The
aim of the Anglo American Social programme is to allow students to
meet other students staying in Anglo American housing. The programme,
which can be found in all Anglo American apartments, is open to all
students, their family and friends.
Events will take place on a weekly basis, and will vary from things
such as entrances to The Tower of London, to theatre tickets to popular
productions such as Mary Poppins, Spamalot and Billy Elliot.

Social calendar information
What exactly is the social calendar?
The social calendar
is a programme of events, put together by Anglo American Educational
Services to enable students and faculty to make the most of London
and the UK throughout their stay. Each week,
throughout the semester a different event will be arranged at a special
discounted rate
How does it work?
It is very simple. Students can email via a dedicated email
address and will be contacted within 24 hours to confirm their booking
on an event. Payment needs to be made at the time of booking,
and can be made either in cash at the Anglo Centre, or via credit card
(subject to a 3% charge) Students will then be provided with a receipt
which they then need to bring with them to the event in order to prove
they have paid.
How do people know what is going on and when?
There
will be a copy of the social calendar placed in each apartment. On
this there will be information on what is going on, when you need to
sign up and pay by, and any other pertinent information. Once
a booking has been confirmed, details of the meeting point, and how
tickets will be picked-up etc will be provided.
Who is allowed to participate in the events?
These
events are exclusively for clients of Anglo American and their friends
and family. You can be assured that all those participating
in the events are known to Anglo.
What kind of events will be arranged?
A wide variety of events will be arranged, including walking
tours (Jack The Ripper, The Da Vinci Trail and Movie London just to name
a few) theatre tickets, day trips, entrances to tourist attractions,
such as the Tower of London, and even day trips to France on Eurostar.
Are all events covered by insurance?
Anglo American has full insurance, which covers the events
How will the social calendar be publicised?
The calendar
will be publicised in various ways. There will
be posters located in all buildings, a copy of the calendar in each
apartment, and we will also be discussing it at orientations. Should
universities wish their students to participate in the events we would
also ask them to pass on the information to their students directly.
When will the events take place?
We realise that the
groups all have different things arranged for different times, and
we are never going to be able to accommodate everyone, but we will
do our utmost to stick to times that will suit the majority of people.
Some events will take place during the week, such as theatre excursions.
Others, such as day trips, will be at the weekends.
How do you sign up for the events?
On the calendar
there is information on how to sign up for events, and the deadlines.
Students can sign up via email, or on the phone, and everything will
be reconfirmed to them in writing.
How do you pay for the events?
Payment can be made using cash, cheques or credit cards (3% charge)
This can be done in person at the Anglo Centre, via email or on the
phone, although everything will be confirmed in writing regardless
What happens if there are no enough people for an event to
take place?
If there are not enough people signed up by the
deadline listed the event will be cancelled. If an event is
cancelled all students who have already paid will be offered a full
refund.
How can these events be offered at such a low rate?
Through
the people we work with, and because of the volume in which we buy,
we can offer special discounted rates. The aim of the
social calendar is to offer the opportunity to mix with other students,
and also to enjoy all the things that London has to offer.
Will there be a representative from Anglo American at the
events?
Yes. Every event will be attended by a representative from
Anglo American unless otherwise stated. |
