Anglo American Educational Services, established in 1971 to service the increasing requirements of study abroad programs in London, offers unique and challenging internship opportunities.

London, as the financial capital and most culturally diverse city in Europe, provides the ideal location for undertaking internships in a wide range of professional fields.

Increasingly popular with undergraduate and graduate students, as well as universities, companies and professional organizations, internships have become an essential component of education abroad.

The experiential learning environments available to visiting students in London range from multi-national corporate entities to small and medium sized enterprises, and include media, political, public sector and voluntary organizations. They accommodate almost every academic discipline and major.

Full-time internships and service learning opportunities are available for semester length and up to 10 weeks in the summer, involving four to five days per week. During the academic year part-time internships are offered two days per week in conjunction with an approved study abroad course program.

Anglo American is responsible for:

  • Identifying and securing a placement relating to the intern’s interests and skills
  • Supplying pre-departure information materials and conducting an orientation meeting upon arrival
  • Arranging interviews relevant to placement
  • Supervising the intern on a consistent basis
  • Conducting on-site visits
  • Checking journals
  • Organizing regular meetings for intern feedback
  • Distributing and collecting evaluation forms
  • Preparing a final assessment of intern’s performance
  • Providing accommodations in desirable, central residential locations

Professional supervision is provided throughout the placement, by experienced internship co-ordinators. Regular contact is maintained with each and every student to monitor progress and ensure a meaningful experience. To complement the internship, a British Life & Culture course is offered, enabling visiting students to put their internship placement into the cultural, political and economic context of modern British society.
